1st Birdham & Witterings Scout Group

For Boys and Girls aged 6 - 8 yrs

Meeting Thursday & Friday evenings 6pm - 7.30pm

 Beaver Scouts are young people usually aged between six and eight years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between seven years and six months and eight years six months.

Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. They usually meet together once a week in a Beaver Scout Colony.

So what have we done and what are we going to do?

  • Fish feeding.     
  • Bird watching, crabbing and potholing.
  • Digit painting.
  • Traffic lights.
  • Codes.
  • First aid.
  • Games nights.
  • Sausage sizzles.
  • Backwards night.
  • Walking, running and tracking.
  • Healthy meals.
  • Scout craft.
  • Canal punts, water craft and scavenger hunts.
  • Beaver Olympics and orienteering

  Thursday - Oak Colony

During our last term we have attended St Georges Day Parade,

been on a walk in Birdham, gone swimming,been on a trail, been to the beach and did some crabbing, took part in the Beaver Olymipcs, went on a Harbour walk & had a Picnic, had a Village treasure hunt  and did some Cooking. We have gained lots of badges and had lots of fun.

  Friday - Birch Colony

This May we opened our new Beaver Colony which meets on a Friday night. Our new members were invested at our group AGM. 14 Beavers and 3 leaders were invested into our group in front of parents, section leaders, District & County Commisioners.
